BROOKHAVEN — Brookhaven police are looking for the gunman who opened fire inside a nightclub early Friday morning, killing one person and wounding six others.
Justin Anderson, no age or address available, is wanted on aggravated assault charges in the incident at Club Oasis, Brookhaven Police Chief Kenneth Collins said, adding that Anderson may also be charged with murder.
Billy Ray Thomas of Brookhaven died after shots were fired following an argument during a party at the club located on the corner of Martin and South First streets just after midnight.
Collins said Thomas and another man were airlifted after the shooting to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He said the victim remained at UMMC, where he was being treated for serious injuries.
Collins said five others suffered less extensive injuries in the skirmish. They were all treated at King’s Daughters Medical Center and released.
Collins said Anderson is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on Anderson’s whereabouts is asked to call the Brookhaven Police Department at 833-2424.
