The man accused of killing eight people including relatives and a sheriff’s deputy in a Memorial Day weekend 2017 rampage pleaded not guilty today in Lincoln County Circuit Court.
Willie Cory Godbolt, 35, went before Judge David Strong at 11 a.m. for his arraignment.
A Lincoln County grand jury indicted Godbolt on four counts of capital murder, four counts of first degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, one count of attempted murder and one count of armed robbery.
He is accused of killing Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy William Durr, Brenda Mitchell, Tocarra May, Barbara May, Jordan Blackwell, Austin Edwards, Ferral Burrage and Sheila Burrage, as well as shooting at a another sheriff’s deputy, kidnapping two women and carjacking two other people.
Strong set another court date in May for a status conference and update on the trial.
