An Amite County man is in custody for allegedly kidnapping his 3-year-old daughter from Louisiana.
Mississippi Highway Patrol issued an Amber alert Sunday afternoon for 3-year-old Paizley Fontenot of Ville Platte after she was allegedly taken by her father Brandon Phillip Fontenot, who does not have custody of her.
Sheriff Tim Wroten said Fontenot has a residence on Perkins Road in Amite County.
Wroten said the Amite County Sheriff’s Department received a call from the Louisiana State Police. Working together, lawmen found the child at Fontenot’s residence in Amite County Sunday evening.
The girl, who was unharmed, was returned to her mother, Wroten said.
Fontenot is being held on kidnapping charges, pending extradition to Louisiana.
