The Grinch is coming to Summit Express Pharmacy, where families can take pictures with the popular character and Santa and snack on cookies and hot cocoa.
The event will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Families are required to bring their own cameras for pictures and cost is $5.
“The movie’s just come out, so everyone’s crazy about the Grinch,” OTC manager Debbie Coghlan said.
The pharmacy also offers fudge in an assortment of flavors, such as birthday cake and red velvet, and provides free delivery. Trays are $20 for a small, $30 for medium and $36 for large.
Pharmacist Tim Stamps said chewable multivitamins for children aged 2-12 are also available free of charge.
Parents have to visit the pharmacy and sign each child up for a 30-day supply of vitamins.
“During this time of year, we want to buy our kids presents and a lot of times we get them too many toys and electronics, but one thing we do here is free children’s vitamins,” he said. “Moms and dads can buy it once a month and that’s something they don’t have to pay for.”
For those who are traveling for the holidays and take multiple medications, the pharmacy offers express packs to help keep track of when to take their daily dose and Stamps said he encourages people to call and inquire about that.
“With Family Pharmacy closing, we want to invite all the customers who have been using Family Pharmacy to call us or come by here and let us help them with their prescription needs,” Stamps said. “We’ll be sure to take care of them.”
Additionally, the pharmacy offers an assortment of gift items, including Little Mermaid necklaces and bracelets, a candle line with entwined designs, the Grumpy Man pepper jellies, Southern Sisters gourmet dips, Flathau’s cheese straws, a large selection of women’s purses and handbags, vintage ball caps with various sayings, Christian books for adults and children, religious plaques and signs, gift baskets and snack bags.
“I want people to shop our gifts,” Coghlan said. “A lot of people don’t realize we have gifts here in the pharmacy. … I’ll create a ceramic bowl with the dips and jellies, (make) little food baskets. I’ll put some of the Little Mermaid jewelry and soaps and just create an assortment. A week or two before Christmas, I’ll make several of them to give out when people come in looking for quick gifts.”
The pharmacy, which opened in May, has a drive-thru and delivery options.
“We’re all about convenience and service,” Stamps said.
Coghlan said the staff is friendly and “we try to take care of our customers and make them feel welcome and right at home.”
