Two masked men overpowered employees at the Bank of Franklin’s Roxie branch about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday before fleeing with an undetermined amount of cash, Franklin County Sheriff James Newman said.
The men, dressed in camouflage and wearing ski masks, jumped over the counter and pushed the tellers to the floor during the holdup.
Newman said one of the men had a knife.
“This was a quick, in-and-out thing,” he said, adding that the men reportedly fled in a small white extended-cab pickup similar to a Chevrolet S-10 or Ford Ranger.
“We believe at least three people were involved,” Newman said. “Two of them entered the bank and the other waited in the truck.”
The sheriff said witnesses couldn’t determine the robbers’ race, who wore white gloves on their right hands and black gloves on their left. One had on a baseball cap over his mask, and the other wore a hood.
The robbers forced the employees into a back room before they left, Newman said.
