Bobby Lounge will perform in McComb as part of his "DetourRetour" at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the State Theaterin McComb.
Lounge has released his second album on Abitian Records entitled"Ten Foot Woman."
The Pike County Arts Council is sponsoring the performanceby Lounge, who continues to make waves in the regional music scene.
Lounge, the stage name for local artist Dub Brock, played atthe New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival again this year,and on the eve of his performance he was featured on NationalPublic Radio's "All Things Considered."
Lounge was featured recently on the cover of offBeat Magazine,a staple in New Orleans. His performances and records, includinghis first CD, "I Remember the Night Your Trailer Burned Down,"have been reviewed by Down Beat, Rolling Stone, USA Today, theNew York Times, The Washington Post and Living Blues Magazine.
Lounge's break-out performance was at the 2005 Jazz Fest,where he stunned the crowd in the Popeye's Blues Tent withhis raucous piano playing and wild lyrics. He's also playedat the Louisiana Music Factory and at Tipitina's in New Orleans.
"Ten Foot Woman" is a second helping of the outrageoussongs Lounge has perfected. Songs like "Take Me to Angola,""Don't You Feel My Leg," "Don't PityMe" and "I Don't Care," "Muddy River,""Do Your Duty," "Moan You Moaners" and thetitle cut. But the album also features Lounge's arrangementof the gospel hymn "Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour," whichhe dedicates to the survivors and victims of Hurricane Katrina.
