Pike County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting deaths of a man and his wife at their mobile home.
Chief Deputy Steve Rushing said officers responding to a call around 5:30 p.m. Friday arrived to find Kenneth R. Connors, 64, and his wife, Sandra Capitano Connors, 59, dead from gunshot wounds in their mobile home at 140 Huskey Lane
Rushing did not disclose where the couple were shot, how many times they were shot or the type of weapon used in the incident. However, he said murder-suicide had been ruled out.
Kenneth Connors’ brother, James Richard Connors Jr., 56, lived with the couple and was inside the mobile home when deputies arrived, but he was not shot, Rushing said.
However, Rushing said James Connors suffered from an unspecified medical condition and was admitted to the intensive care unit at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center Friday night.
No children were in the home, and Rushing said the three Connor adults were the only ones in the trailer when officers arrived.
Rushing said Saturday that investigators had not been able to interview Richard Connors, who was listed in stable condition at Southwest on Saturday night. No charges have been filed.
Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman pronounced the Connor couple dead at the scene.
Rushing said several guns were found in the trailer, but officials are unsure what gun was used in the shootings. Authorities are waiting for Mississippi State Crime Lab results to make that determination.
Huskey Lane is an isolated dirt road in the south-central part of Pike County.
Rushing said a concerned relative of Kenneth Connor contacted the sheriff’s office and asked officials to check on the couple.
