The sister-in-law of a Pike County judge died in a crash on Johnston Station Road Monday morning after she collided with a mobile home in transit.
Jerelyn R. Richardson, 69, was southbound in a white 2017 Nissan Murano on Johnston Station Road when she collided with a northbound 2006 International semi-truck towing a single-wide mobile home around 10, Pike County Chief Investigator Chris Bell said.
Richardson apparently struck the left side of the mobile home, which was being moved by Miss-Lou Mobile Home Transporters of McComb, Bell said.
He did not identify the driver of the truck, who has not been charged.
Bell said it’s unknown which motorist crossed the center line, although photos from the scene show the oversize load appeared to have been over the center line, which is typical for such loads. The accident also occurred at a slight curve, which also could have caused of the front left corner of the mobile home to protrude over the center line.
The impact happened on the front left side of the mobile home and left heavy damage along the left side of the structure.
The truck hauling the mobile home did not appear to have sustained any damage.
A pilot vehicle from the mobile home transport company was parked in front of the rig at the wreck scene.
Traffic was backed up on Johnston Station Road until the wreckage could be cleared.
Bell said Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman pronounced Richardson at the scene.
Roberts is the sister-in-law of Pike County Youth Court Judge John Price.
Bell said the accident remains under investigation.
