The Pike County Chamber of Commerce should have a new membership director within the next few weeks, executive director Britt Herrin said Monday.
“I expect to name someone around the first of May,” Herrin told the chamber’s board of directors at a noon meeting Monday.
Herrin said the deadline for applications for the position is Wednesday. He said the chamber has received 15 applications, and he expects more by Wednesday.
“The applications we have received are pretty good,” he said. “I’m pleased.”
Herrin said Monday afternoon that a search committee has been appointed to review the resumés and hire a new director.
He said he expects to call a special meeting of the board of directors during the first week in May to name a new director.
The chamber board approved advertising for a new membership director in March to replace Michelle Lombas, who resigned on Jan. 17 to take a job in Brookhaven.
Lombas was with the chamber for three years.
Besides keeping track of membership statistics, the membership director also recruits members, oversees the chamber’s ambassador program and is responsible for organizing ribbon cuttings and assisting with other chamber events.

Since leaving, Lombas’ duties with the chamber and United Givers have been split among the chamber staff.
