Three burglars broke into a Summit jewelry store and took several items in a smash-and-grab heist that lasted just under a minute.
Summit Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kirk said the incident happened just before 4 a.m. Friday at Nathan Allen Jewelers on Robb Street.
Kirk said three people, who authorities believe to be males, used an unidentified object to break the glass in the front door and enter the store.
He said the thieves broke display cases and stuffed jewelry into a bag before heading out the door.
Kirk said the burglars were “covered up pretty good” and their heads were covered. He said the breaking of the glass in the front door triggered an alarm.
Kirk said officers arrived at the scene shortly thereafter but the trio of thieves had already fled.
