BROOKHAVEN — A Brookhaven man accused of killing one man and wounding six others surrendered to police this morning after he was apparently spotted riding in a car with an accused bank robber, who remains at large.
Brookhaven police posted on the department’s Facebook page that Justin Anderson, no age or address given, surrendered at 9:34 a.m.
Anderson is accused of fatally shooting Billy Ray Thomas and wounding six others, one seriously, after an argument broke out at a party at the Oasis Club on Friday.
It’s unknown what led to the argument.
Police said Anderson was spotted traveling with Lattrick Williams, who is one of five men accused of robbing State Bank & Trust Co. at the intersection of East Monticello Street and Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Drive in Brookhaven on Aug. 31. Williams is the only suspect yet to be arrested in connection with the heist.
Police Chief Kenneth Collins said the department has received word that Williams and Anderson have been “getting around together.”
