Two men who allegedly robbed and attacked an elderly woman at McComb’s Wal-Mart Thursday afternoon are being held in the Pike County jail.
Jerry Lewis Jr., 20, of 826 N. Magnolia St., Magnolia, and Fredrick Gilmore, 20, of 2082 Jewel Lane, Magnolia, are being charged with strong armed robbery and are in jail awaiting preliminary hearing, McComb Police Department Detective Victoria Carter said in a news release.
When officers arrived, the suspects fled the scene.
Officers interviewed the victim and two witnesses, who provided a description of the suspects and their vehicle tag.
Officers also reviewed Wal-Mart’s surveillance footage and saw the suspects exiting their car and allegedly robbing the elderly woman in the store’s parking lot.
The woman reportedly had to get nearly two dozen stitches as a result of the attack.
With help from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Magnolia Police Department and the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, the suspects’ car was recovered at a residence on East Oak Street in Magnolia.
Shortly after the alleged robbery, both suspects turned themselves in to authorities that same day.
