Two people accused of abusing children face felony charges in two separate Pike County cases.
Kevin Jones, 47, of McComb, was charged Thursday with touching a child for lustful purposes, and Rosalie Jacobs, 25, Honeysuckle Trail, Summit, was charged Friday with felony child abuse.
Pike County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Chris Bell said a North Pike High School student told a counselor that Jones molested her.
Bell said Jones came to the sheriff’s department and investigators interviewed him.
He said Jones admitted to inappropriately touching the girl.
Bell said the girl told her mother and then the counselor, who told officials with the Mississippi Department of Human Services Child Protective Services.
Jones is free after posting a $5,000 bond.
In the other case, Bell said Jacobs is accused of slapping a child in the mouth with an open hand, choking him against the wall and striking the child with her fist.
Bell said investigators questioned her Friday.
She remains in jail held with bond.
Bell said Mississippi Department of Human Services and the Southwest Mississippi Children’s Advocacy Center asked the sheriff’s department to investigate both cases.
