Two Magnolia men have been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery for the Thursday night robbery of the Dollar General, located at 5092 Highway 98 East.
Pike County chief sheriff investigator Greg Martin said Da’Michael L. Baker, 20, 215 W. Oak St., was arrested at 3:20 p.m. at a car wash on Highway 51 in Magnolia, and Mario Jennings, 18, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. at his home, 1355 Cunnigen St. also in Magnolia.
Martin said investigators got an anonymous tip that led to the arrest of both men. Weapons were recovered during both arrests, and both were armed.
Martin said no money was recovered during the arrest.
Aug. 18, Baker and Jennings are alleged to have held up the Dollar General on Highway 98 East of McComb Thursday night, marking the second robbery of the same store in less than a month.
Martin said Baker and Jennings came into the store and demanded money from the register, telling the clerk to put the cash in a Dollar General bag.
Clerks told deputies Jennings was reportedly jumpy and allegedly told them, “Don’t call the police. If you do, I’ll kill you.”
Martin said the clerks also allege Jennings also told the clerks he wanted “cash — paper only, no coins.”
The clerks said he did the talking and told the larger man what to do. Baker was calm throughout the robbery.
Martin said Baker and Jennings fled the store on foot, heading east to a nearby wooded area.
Baker and Jennings are both being held without bond in the Pike County jail this morning.
