The Nation's Weather for Thursday, December 16, 2021
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A zone of rain and embedded thunderstorms will stretch from
southern Illinois and Indiana, southwestward to northeastern
Texas tomorrow. A few of the storms could contain gusty
winds and downpours, but widespread severe weather is not
expected. Unfortunately, this will slow the cleanup efforts
in the locations where tornadoes touched down last week.
Rain and mountain snow will continue in much of the West,
but precipitation will be lighter in intensity than in
recent days. Meanwhile, a southerly to southwesterly breeze
will bring warm air into the Northeast. Temperatures will be
high enough to challenge records in some locations. A breezy
and much cooler day is forecast in the central Plains, with
temperatures 15-25 degrees Fahrenheit lower than Wednesday.
