The Nation's Weather for Thursday, September 2, 2021
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Torrential rainfall from Ida can produce flooding in coastal
portions of southern New England tomorrow. However, rivers
will remain high with some over flood stage even where rain
will have already ended farther west. Elsewhere, rain with
embedded thunderstorms will drench much of the Dakotas and
Nebraska and, later in the day, western Minnesota and
northwestern Iowa. Thunderstorms should be less widespread
in Kansas, but some of the storms may be strong. Afternoon
thunderstorms are expected to dot the Rocky Mountains. Dry
weather is forecast in the remainder of the West, and
wildfires will continue to burn with poor air quality in
areas of smoke. Warmth and high humidity will lead to
uncomfortable conditions for those still without power in
Louisiana in the wake of Ida.
