The Nation's Weather for Saturday, December 24, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a powerful storm lifts northward into Canada, high winds
will continue from the Midwest to the Northeast today. Much
of the eastern half to two-thirds of the nation will remain
in a deep freeze this Christmas Eve. The combination of
frigid air and high winds will lead to heavy lake-effect
bands of snow and local blizzard conditions. Several feet of
snow can pile up and isolate some communities over the
holiday weekend. Freezing temperatures will reach as far
south as Florida. Farther west, spotty snow will mark the
boundary of the Arctic air over the Rockies. As a storm
pivots into British Columbia, warmer air will lead to rain
along the Washington and Oregon coasts and snow and ice will
transition to rain east of the Cascades. Dry weather is
forecast to hold with clear skies over the Southwest.
