NATIONAL SUMMARY
A tropical system likely to be called Alex will continue
moving offshore today after bringing heavy rain and locally
gusty thunderstorms to much of the Florida Peninsula. A few
thunderstorms are expected to be left behind along portions
of the Southeast coast however, and surf will continue to
build along the southern Atlantic coast. Rain and
thunderstorms will develop over the Plains and Upper Midwest
with a few storms becoming severe later in the day. A
slow-moving storm in the Northwest will continue to spread
rain inland from Washington and Oregon to parts of Idaho,
Montana and Northern California. There could even be some
rumbles of thunder across northern Idaho and Montana. Dry
and sunny conditions will continue over the Southwest with
heat continuing to build up across the interior.
