7/18 WHERE WAS THE TRUMP COVERAGE?
It’s quite disturbing that the Enterprise-Journal would not cover the attempted assassination of President Donald J. Trump. Instead you put a political cartoon up about it. Do you not realize that the majority of your subscribers are Republicans? I believed that the Enterprise-Journal was a non-biased news source, but it doesn’t appear that way. Please correct me if I am wrong.
EDITOR’S REPLY: You are wrong. Last Tuesday’s Opinion page, our first edition after the shooting, included a Trump-related editorial and an AP column about the shooting. There was a small AP news story on Page 2. Our website had AP stories within 24 hours of the shooting.
7/19 RESPONSE TO TRUMP COVERAGE COMMENT
Regarding Wednesday’s two cents, I would like to know what poll or the number of people that stated that the majority of Enterprise-Journal readers are Republican? What a biased statement, and you are probably wrong about it, too. By the way, I am a Democrat.
7/2 NATURE’S SPLENDID SHOW
Cheers and applause for the crepe myrtles! These often “taken-for-granted” trees and bushes are putting on a splendid show all over McComb and Pike County, and they are begging to be noticed!
7/11 BUILD NOW WITH FREE MONEY
I’ve noticed over the last few years a lot of our construction, such as roads and bridges, has been paid for with American Rescue Plan funds. We need to get all of our eggs together and build everything we need while all the money is free. They may start taxing us if we don’t hurry up and spend it.
7/5 WE’RE PAYING, SO START PLAYING
Referring to the statement by Supervisor Robert Accardo about garbage collection fees, “If you don’t pay, we don’t play.” Those of us that do pay fees and taxes, we’re paying but y’all aren’t playing. We still have trash everywhere, houses that are derelict and streets that are difficult to drive down because of the condition. So Mr. Accardo, when will y’all start playing?
6/26 ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN
City departments need to do more. I’m tired of overgrown grass, trees and bushes obstructing view for safe travel. These are accidents waiting to happen, and by the way a police officer may or may not respond to an accident, causing the citizens more problems with insurance as well as issues with the other party involved. I see Public Works trucks moving all day, but what are they doing?
7/10 LET’S COMBINE SOME HOLIDAYS
There are too many holidays where too many bank and government people are paid not to work. Other than the traditional well-established holidays, we need to designate one holiday and call it Presidents, Heroes and Martyrs Day, and each person could celebrate, memorialize, praise or worship the one of their choice.
7/9 MAKE REPAIRS OR BUY MORE BARRELS
Since the City of McComb can’t seem to repair streets or broken water lines, it should instead invest in larger quantities of orange & white barrels!
7/3 THE PRESSURE OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Regarding Tim Kalich’s statement in the June 29 editorial about children’s access to social media and cellphones that “no parent will have to feel the pressure of children who complain …” about any restrictions, my dad and mom would not have felt the pressure. I would have if I rebelled. The problem is, who is in charge?
6/28 FAITH AND POLITICS
The Louisiana governor has signed two bills. One will place The Ten Commandments back in schools and the other, referred to as a Don’t Say Gay bill, will keep children safe as God made them. Now maybe the E-J can take a survey of local clergy as to where they stand? At least the ACLU won’t be holding up the line going to Heaven.
6/27 A GREAT AND WONDERFUL GIFT
When one receives a great and wonderful gift, the recipient should show thanks and use the gift to show appreciation. In the beginning, God created the world and all therein. All the plants, animals and minerals, including oil for our lamps, were gifts from God. I’m just wondering: If we refuse to use the gifts from God, including the oil for our lamps and other things, are we being ungrateful to God?
6/25 GROCERY STORE MATH DOESN’T ADD UP
The TV news recently stated that grocery prices are up by 21%. I may not have been real good in math, but my favorite chips that were 79 cents are now $3.58, and my drinks that were $2.48 are now $5.38. This seems like a lot more than 21%. Where is my math teacher when I need her?
