MORE ABOUT THE SUMMIT ROUNDABOUT
Enjoyed the letter Bruce Bridges wrote recently regarding the roundabout at the Summit exit. He hit the nail on the head. It is being shoved down our throats. No, I do not want it. Some questions: How many accidents or near misses have occurred on the four-leaf clover to justify the roundabout? Think about how this will affect the businesses in Summit.
RELOCATE THE ROUNDABOUTS
I read that the airport needs a longer runway to handle the increase in number of larger business jets that now come here. I also read that no one wants the roundy-rounds in Summit. Instead of roundy-rounds, why not straighten them out and make them a runway extension at the airport? That would make two groups of people happy.
DOES ANYONE FAVOR THE ROUNDABOUT?
As difficult as it was for Diogenes to find an honest man, it seems equally difficult to find anyone who likes the idea of a roundabout at the Summit exit. If no one likes the idea, perhaps there are more needy projects.
SCHOOL BOARD CHANGE
Shame on the McComb city board for replacing a true advocate in the community. Kizzy Coney was an excellent addition to the school board and now a tragic loss. Too much dirty politics at the City of McComb.
A MEDICAID CRITIQUE
Medicaid is just another product of socialism. It exhausts the few medical services and doctors available at the expense of those who paid to provide health care for themselves and their family. Some may say this is a selfish attitude; however, realizing that there are exceptions, it is unfair for those who pay to be rooted out by someone who has nothing to do but sit in a doctor’s office all day with a runny nose.
CRIMES WITH A WEAPON
Anytime a crime is committed and the follow-up conversation is about gun control and not the perpetrator, no solution will be reached. Crimes committed with a weapon must be met with “no bail,” a speedy trial, long sentences if convicted and no parole. Do citizens and judges notice that violent crimes are being committed by repeat offenders?
DRIVE-BY FOLLOW-UP
In response to your explanation of the Feb. 14 drive-by shooting, reliable sources told me there were six or maybe seven gunshots. Seems as if someone fired that many shot, they intended on killing them. As for your comment about it being typical of McComb, I remember the time when McComb was a decent place to live.
ROAD NEEDS ATTENTION
People who commute from the north to Southwest college and North Pike have to dodge potholes and dangerous shoulders on Johnston Station Road.
THOSE WHO FAILED TO SAVE
We did without, saved nickels and dimes, drove smaller cars, did not eat out, in order to save money to put our children through college so they would not start post-graduate life with debt. I paid for my children’s schooling. Now thanks to the liberal president I have to pay for those who failed to plan and save. Just another example of galloping socialism contributing to the economic downfall of our country.
WHY NOT LIST ALL CANDIDATES?
It may be legal, as the McComb mayor keeps saying, but it is certainly unethical the way the city board appoints members to other boards. The selectmen are denied the knowledge of who all the candidates are for possible appointment. They are only given the name of the administrator’s choice. That’s just wrong.
TUCKER CARLSON’S EXCLUSIVE
Regarding Tim Kalich’s recent editorial making an issue of Tucker Carlson exclusively receiving the January 6th security footage, Republican viewers know that the other side of the story will now be revealed. Mr. Kalich could contact Rep. Bennie Thompson for his copy.
AMERICA’S DRUG PRIORITIES
Something just doesn’t seem right. Why does the federal government block real, legal drugs like Lipitor and Viagra from entering the country from Canada, but make little or no effort to stop dangerous, illegal drugs like fentanyl from entering the country from China via Mexico?
