1/16 ‘HOME TOWN’ BLUES
Concerning “Home Town,” great show and I watch regularly. I’ve had many thoughts if it could be done here. The answer is no! Nobody will move to McComb as long as we allow unacceptable trashy properties like the one on Pennsylvania and Fifth Street. The city does not have the courage to enforce the codes and has rendered nearby properties basically worthless and not sellable.
1/15 BEHIND THE MUSIC
Attention restaurant, cafe and eatery managers. Please turn down the music! At almost every table there are people trying to have a conversation but can’t because the music is too loud. Stop playing that high-pitched, screaming irritating music. Please play more relaxing music, and make your eatery a more pleasant place to visit.
1/21 PARK DRIVE OVERPASS NEEDS ONE FIX
We are very happy that the Park Drive bridge is open. But there is an unacceptable bump at both ends of the bridge. I hope they will fix that.
1/17 ADD THIS TO STREET REPAIR LIST
I’ve read the McComb street repair list three times, and I don’t see Wilson Drive listed. Wilson Drive is south of Park Drive, and for a few blocks needs to be overlaid badly. At least fix the potholes better. This street gets lots of traffic from Parklane Academy’s east entrance.
1/29 GET SOMETHING DONE
I think if the citizens of McComb want anything done they need to elect all new officials. The ones in office right now don't seem to be able to get anything done.
1/2 McCOMB CAN’T AFFORD A JAIL
It’s obvious one of our selectwomen has no clue about business. She should know McComb could not afford to build a city jail.
1/14 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION NO. 1
I have a great idea to start the new year ... If every church in McComb would adopt a street and keep it clean, that would be a start to bring back pride to our city ... Nuff said.
1/14 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION NO. 2
Before our state legislators start making all their grand reforms in the educational system, they should first require themselves to spend a week each semester in an elementary, junior high or high school classroom. They have no idea what needs to be changed!
1/24 LEGISLATORS IN THE CLASSROOM
I enjoyed the New Year’s Resolution No. 2 in the Jan. 14 Two Cents. I fully agree with it. Not only should the state legislators be required to spend a week in the classroom, I think the local school boards should also be required to spend time in the classroom. So many of them don’t have a clue what the teachers do in the classroom and what they have to deal with every day.
1/10 PIKE COUNTY FIREWORKS
My old coffee-drinking buddies remember when someone had Pike County ban the sale and shooting of fireworks. He then put a trailer on Highway 570 west in Amite County to sell fireworks to Pike County residents. Your Jan. 9 Backward Glance said 10 years ago, residents of Lake Dixie Springs were shooting fireworks. The ban does not work. Lift it so some Pike County residents can make extra income.
1/8 NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY WAS FUN
Just wanted to compliment all the efforts put into the 2025 Fireworks Party at the downtown McComb pavilion! It truly gave families and all ages a “fun” event to be together to bring in the New Year! And kudos to the McComb Police for their protection and making sure it stayed peaceful. Thank you!
1/23 A HEALTH INSURANCE MYSTERY
I just got the year end report from my health insurance company. The total bills submitted by all my providers was $24,000. The amount approved and paid was $4,000. What happened to the other $20,000? If I didn’t have insurance would I have to pay $24,000 or $4,000? If others did billing like this, would they go to jail? Can anyone explain?
1/29 A SPIRITUAL REVIVAL
I’m just wondering if some of the comments in Trump’s inauguration speech could be a triggering event for a spiritual revival in our country.
1/28 BACK FROM THE BRINK
The Crystal Ball says now that President Trump has signed almost 200 executive orders to bring America back from the brink. The media will focus on a handful of the orders, like pardoning Jan. 6 political prisoners, mass deportation of illegals and aggressive energy policy. Never mind that “former” President Biden pardoned 1,200 drug dealers, his family and Jan. 6 committee members with pre-emptive pardons.
1/21 SPORTS AND TV
Drones can be used as a weapon to attack Trump while playing golf. ... Sports fans (NBA, NFL) better enjoy the free games on TV. They are going to pay TV soon.
1/2 ABOUT THOSE PRESIDENTIAL PARDONS
So many pardons! It takes a crook to know a crook, Joe Biden.
