9/24 REMEMBER CORE VALUES
The right to bear arms and free speech are fundamentally simple yet thought-provoking topics now being used to usher in death. Guns and responsible gun ownership have become more of a hot topic because guns can be obtained very easily, but the gun does not kill people. People kill people, and the logic used by one side does not apply to the other. Let’s all on both sides, all races, all sexes, all political affiliations and religious sectors remember core values, mutual respect and decent humanity. Praying for this country — for everyone.
9/17 TIME TO FIGURE IT OUT
With two recent innocent loss of lives, what will it take for Americans to see the real answer? Young innocent children in a school and a speaker challenging others to debate lose their lives for no conceivable reason. It’s the gun? No, both murderers had mental issues that somehow are supported in our country. Gender mind-altering issues. Should sexual issues be included on firearm applications?
9/6 HAPPINESS IS A RESURFACED DELAWARE
Great job on Delaware Avenue. I knew that we could do it. Let’s move forward in McComb with more working together and less bickering. People are tired of all the talk and no work.
9/27 SOUTH LOCUST STREET NEEDS REPAIRS
We use South Locust Street in McComb. For years, the people have had to watch out for the holes and other obstacles that are in the way of the cars passing. We called months ago, asking that they do something about it. This street was worked on years ago and was not finished correctly. All they did was throw rocks in the holes, but still had cones in the way. I wish they would finish it correctly. We thank you, and our cars thank you!
9/20 THE LINE OF CREDIT
In the Sept. 17 paper, Selectwoman Isaac said, “It is so disrespectful for one person to always be negative against McComb School District.” I can tell you what’s embarrassing: Not too many years ago under finance director Cathy Jones’ watch, the McComb School District always held in reserve enough money to run for two years if zero money came in. A $3.5 million line of credit is irresponsible and disrespectful.
9/13 THE CHALLENGE LOCAL SCHOOLS FACE
Nothing can be done for the McComb City, Magnolia City and Pike County schools that I can see will help them. Print something to help the people that want to do something right.
9/6 A PERFECT LOCATION
If a location is needed for Hazardous Waste Day, the four blocks of Wilson Drive would be perfect. The Dumpsters, forklifts and other equipment cannot possibly make the street any worse than it is. It’s public property, too.
9/3 EASE UP ON HOT-WEATHER PRACTICE
It has been entirely too hot for summer football practice, putting these athletes’ lives in danger. MHSAA should change the months and length of time at practice. Too much of some things are not good.
9/3 GRASS CLIPPINGS DANGER
I find it dangerous for people cutting their grass to blow and pile up grass clippings on our streets and roadways. A sudden shower on top of the clippings makes for an extremely slippery situation and could cause a motorcyclist to lose control and possibly have a serious accident.
