ABOUT THE SCHOOL BOARD
I want to thank this newspaper for keeping its readers updated on the ludicrous behavior of some of the McComb school board members. The article states that a past vote to rename the administration building for Dr. Leslie Daniels failed because the vote at that time, by policy, had to be unanimous. It wasn’t, so what did the board do? They changed the policy so they could get what they want. That’s like children changing the rules of a game as they play to make sure they win.
UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
Why is the McComb School District reluctant to speak on what lead to the superintendent’s termination? Provide the taxpayers with the information in question. We entrusted this man with our kids and their future for nine years and now his career and legacy is marred by suspicious actions. Keep in mind taxpayers will be on the hook for any litigation fees associated with this matter. Our kids and dollars matter.
SCHOOL UPDATE NEEDED
The McComb School District’s slogan was, “We Want More.” Now we, the public, want more. We want more information why the school superintendent was fired from his position. Who were the key people behind this project and why? This is a tax-supported public school system and we the taxpayers deserve an answer.
NEWSPAPER GOES WAY OVERBOARD
The My Two Cents article that criticized Black Lives Matter, the NAACP and the ACLU made me physically sick. How could this paper promote such hatred? We all know there are a lot of people in this community that would love to take us back to the 1960s. But for you to give them a platform to promote such vileness is truly unacceptable. We really need another newspaper in this community. This one has gone way overboard.
THE DEBATE CONTINUES
Responding to the “Way Overboard” My Two Cents, on Black Lives Matter, what did they accomplish? The NAACP is a good organization. The ACLU is a lot of lawyers waiting for a white person, especially a police officer, to do something to a Black person. Please don’t quit reading or writing to the Enterprise-Journal.
A TWO-CENT COMPLIMENT
My Two Cents is simply an opinion by a reader, period. The great thing about this country is we have free speech. I do not have to agree with your opinion the same way you may not agree with mine. I also believe the editor does an excellent job of what is published in My Two Cents. I feel that all sides to issues are presented. As long as we can remain respectful we should share our thoughts and hopefully we can all keep an open mind with other readers and their perspective.
COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE
Kudos to sports editor Marquis Cooley for his article on retiring Parklane softball coach Greg Gatlin. And congrats to Coach Gatlin for his remarkable run: 5 state championships in 7 years! Coach Greg led his teams by his personal commitment to excellence. He is a hometown winner!
HELPING THE HOMELESS
I know that there are situations that can cause a “homeless” situation. The E-J did a story some time back on the man that hangs out at the parking structure downtown. I welcome any long solutions to help this person. In reality what he is doing is loitering. I do not believe that he should be arrested, but there are shelters that help people. If he does not want help, then he should face the consequences of his decision, which could result in an arrest.
TO SELECTWOMAN WATERMAN-BAYLOR
I applaud your activism as it pertains to breast cancer. I would like to see more work done on the crime and derelict properties in your ward. I am a cancer survivor, but I’m afraid to go to my car at dusk dark or sit outside with the loud vulgar music and strong smell of Marijuana in the air. Please walk your ward and speak with us, we have grave concerns.
A MATTER OF TIME
With open borders, who knows how many terrorist cells are in the United States? It’s only a matter of time before something happens.
