MORE CRIME REPORTING NEEDED
Why is the Enterprise-Journal picking and choosing what crimes to report on? There have been several shootings in McComb, and information is sparse to non-existent. Thank you to the coroner for providing some information to the public. Why can’t the E-J get a blotter report from city hall outlining crime in Pike County? And before anyone says it doesn’t exist, yes it does.
CRIME ALL OVER THE WORLD
On the rehiring of Chief Ward, Selectwoman Tabitha Felder Isaac was quoted, “Crimes all over the world are being committed. All over the world. It’s not just in McComb, you understand?” I beg the selectwoman’s pardon but, yes crimes are committed all over the world, but not necessarily at the higher rate currently in the City of McComb.
QUESTIONS ABOUT CRIME
The McComb police chief was fired and reinstated. Crime is still raging. Is the chief incompetent? Are the detectives and officers incompetent? Citizens are no safer under this chief than any others. The elected officials who voted to rehire the chief have a lot to answer for. Where are the statistics on crimes committed vs. solved? Why is this information not published in newspapers, radio, Facebook, city website?
ABOUT THE UPS DELIVERY
Any legitimate company which is in a business that requires them to regularly enter private property should be required by law to have the company logo or name affixed to that vehicle. Otherwise the property owner has no safe way to determine who they are or why they are there.
THESE BRIDGES HAVE BEEN OUT FOR YEARS
Mr. Ryan’s recent column about having to go a few more minutes out of the way to get to work really got me to thinking. What if he lived out in the country and would have to deal with bridges being out, like State Line Road, Fernwood Road and the Guy Barkdull Road bridges? They have been out for years.
HOLLYWOOD CEMETERY FENCE NEEDS REPAIRS
Is there any way to designate some American Rescue Plan Act funds for the repair or replacement of the Hollywood Cemetery fence on the Virginia Avenue side of McComb High School? Its tattered condition is an embarrassment for the neighborhood and the McComb School District, and it is completely disrespectful to the deceased in the cemetery.
UNPAID McCOMB WATER BILLS
This is unacceptable and financially irresponsible. One of the contributing factors in Jackson’s water system failure was allowing citizens to not pay water bills but not disconnecting them. Is this McComb’s future? People who actually pay water bills every month are being used and disrespected by city leaders. Define and fix the problem!
