William “Bam” Quin started his 3-on-3 basketball hoop jamboree on Summit Street back in 1996 as a way of helping children stay on the right path, but this year’s event on July 2 will have an extra focus on crime and bringing the community together.

First baby of 2022

Kamari Hughes was born at 4:36 a.m. Jan. 3, making him the first baby born at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in 2022. He weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces. He’s pictured with his mom and dad, Sabrina Wallace and Kameron Hughes of McComb, and Dr. Patrick Daigle, who delivered him.

One killed in Thursday night wreck

One person was killed and others were injured in a wreck on Van Norman Curve Road just east of McComb just before midnight Thursday.
The wreck took place in the 2100 block of Van Norman Curve Road, between Highway 44 and McComb-Holmesville Road.
The wreck involved a car and an SUV.
