Fire in dryer disrupts Drax plant in Gloster

A fire broke out in a piece of equipment at a Gloster wood pellet mill on Sunday morning.
Drax Group U.S. officials said the fire occurred in the ducting of a dryer at their plant a little after 8 a.m.

Brumfield says bridge funding appears to be a go

Funding for a new railroad bridge over a spur on Highway 51 in Magnolia seems to be a go if highway funding bills succeed in the current legislative session, a local Senator told Pike County supervisors on Monday.
Sen. Gary Brumfield, D-Magnolia, gave an update on several significant pieces of legislation affecting the area.
