Historical marker planned for DeSoto Hotel’s inclusion in Green Book

The Green Book was published from 1936 to 1966 and served as a guide for Black travelers to find safe places to eat, sleep and refuel in the days of the Jim Crow South.
McComb’s own DeSoto Hotel is mentioned in several editions published after World War II.

Nancy Smith’s house is like a gallery, featuring artwork she created, as well as others she’s come to know and be inspired by over the years, with each piece a preservation of a memory, an abstract thought or a link to others whose creativity she has admired.
Smith’s earliest memories of art were of her grandmother, Mamie Strahan.
