GREENWOOD, Miss. - During MLK All-Star Weekend on Sunday, January 18, the Mississippi Football All-Stars will be held at the Rice Totten Stadium on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University.
The All-Stars will consist of the following:
- 12:00 p.m. - Mississippi All-Star Parade
- 12:30 p.m. - Tailgate Party
- 4:30 p.m. - Mississippi vs. Mississippi All-Star Game “The Mississippi Classics”
- 7:00 p.m. - Mississippi Football All-Stars Fireworks Show
- 7:30 p.m. - Mississippi vs. Louisiana All-Star Game
Several nationally ranked and local stars are playing in the All-Stars including 4-star Trae Collins (Ridgeland), 4-star Sheldon Isaac (McComb) Mr. Football Chase Craft (Heidelberg), Demarcus Brown (Amanda Elzy) and Tavares Osborne (Greenwood).
The All-Star Coaches are as follow:
- Coach Alden Foster - (McComb) - Head Coach of MS Team
- Coach Robert Valdez - (St. Augustine) - Head Coach of LA Team
- Coach Darryl Carter - (Heidelberg) - Head of Mississippi Classics
- Coach Derrick Jenkins - (Moss Point) - Head of Mississippi Classics
More than just a game! This year’s motto is “Save Valley.” One of the biggest high school games in the country featuring some of the biggest names in the country are playing on campus at Mississippi Valley for the first time. The overall goal of having the game at Valley is one to make sure Valley isn’t going to be shut down or defunded this year by showing that Valley still has value. That’s one of the main purposes of bringing this national event to Valley.
Secondly, the only way to show Valley still has value is that the entire Delta Community has to show up and show its support by the thousands. Not only the Delta Community, but also Valley Student body and Valley Alumni have to come out and show the world that everyone still cares and believes in Valley. Packing out this game is a major statement to that.
