Authorities are searching for a suspect in the shooting death of a man at a Summit-area nightclub early Sunday morning, authorities said.
Pike County Sheriff Wally Jones said Anthony Butler Jr., 22, of McComb, is wanted in connection with the case. Butler is a 6-foot-2, 150-pound Black male. He is considered armed and dangerous, sheriff's officials said.
Jermonte Marquis Barnes, 34, of Jayess, died of multiple gunshot wounds in the shooting, Pike County Coroner David Rashad Taylor said.
Jones said the shooting occurred around 3:15 at Youngstown Plaza on Summit-Holmesville Road.
He said the gunman entered as the business was closing for the night and shot the victim.
The business was in the news in recent months after it was a subject of a raid led by state Alcoholic Beverage Control agents.
Jones said the club's staff was being cooperative in the shooting investigation.
He said he expected to release more information later.
