A man was shot and killed while sitting in his car in McComb’s Burglund neighborhood on Friday afternoon.
Police Chief Earnest Perry said the man, whose name was not immediately released, was shot while sitting in a red compact sedan on Dyson Street in McComb’s “old projects” around 4 p.m.
No suspects were immediately identified.
Perry said it remained unclear if the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle. He said witnesses told police they heard multiple gunshots.
This is the third shooting in two months in which the victims were sitting inside their cars.
On Nov. 12, Chardick McGaffney was shot while sitting in his SUV while it was parked in his driveway on Wall Street.
The following night, Jaylen Hayes was shot while sitting in his car in McComb’s Algiers neighborhood across town.
McGaffney died of his wounds, while Hayes is still recovering from his.
Police have arrested suspects in connection with those shootings.
