Voters who haven’t cast ballots in the last two presidential elections need to verify their registration status in order to avoid being purged from voting rolls, Pike County Election Commissioners said Monday.
“Certain times of the year there’s a purge,” Commission Chair Jennifer Gatlin-Barnes said, adding that voters who didn’t vote in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections will be declared inactive and removed from the rolls. “Please check your voting status, just to confirm.”
With various elections coming up this year, including McComb’s municipal contests as well as judicial and congressional races, the clock is ticking to register to vote.
“They need to register before April 1 in order to be able to vote in McComb’s primaries on May 3,” Gatlin-Barnes said.
She said voters can call the circuit clerk’s office or their election commissioner to check their voter registration status.
