The Aug. 1 deadline is approaching for first-year college students to apply for three $500 scholarships to be given to students living in Mississippi Senate District 38, which includes portions of Adams, Amite, Pike and Walthall, and all of Wilkinson counties.
Applicants for Sen. Kelvin E. Butler’s scholarships must have lived within the district the past two years and maintain a 2.0 or “C” average.
Students should be enrolled to begin college or community college for the 2022-23 school year in Mississippi. A completed application, final transcript of grades and proof of parents’ income must be received by the Aug. 1 deadline.
Mail applications to Barbara Butler, 2018 Hawthorne Drive, McComb, MS, 39648 or fax them to (601) 680-5693. Email Senator Butler at senatorkelvinbutler@gmail.com, or text him at 601-248-6548, to request an application, which must be typed or printed in black ink.
“I urge parents, pastors, teachers, mentors and others to ask students you know to apply for these scholarships that can make their college journey easier,” Butler said. “If need be, sit down with a student who could use the scholarship and help them apply. Help me to help our students continue forward with success.”
