A man pushing a car along Highway 51 and a passenger in another car were killed in separate accidents over the weekend.
Clinton Keith Rosa, 29, of McComb, died on Highway 51 near Maple Drive, Fernwood, around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
“He was pushing a vehicle out of the roadway and he stepped back and was struck by another vehicle,” Jones said.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Trooper Craig James said Sundae Montague, 42, of Magnolia, was driving the southbound 2015 Chrysler 200 that struck Rosa.
In the other accident, Shirletha Martin, 33, of Tylertown, was a passenger in a silver Dodge Caliber that was westbound on Union Church Road when it was struck by a white Chevrolet pickup coming off LeBlanc Road, Jones said.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office worked the wreck.
