Administrators at Pike County schools are taking precautions in the wake threats against area schools on social media.
School officials reached this morning said they had not seen anything referring to a specific school or district.
North Pike has had an increased police presence this morning, though classes are continuing through the day.
“We are having school as normal,” Superintendent Dr. Jay Smith said.
South Pike Superintendent Dr. Angela Lowery said there is “heightened awareness” there, and all administrators had been alerted to the threats. The Magnolia Police Department has been informed of the threats, she said.
Robert Young, assistant principal at Parklane Academy, said officials there are also on alert.
“Our perimiter is sealed, and we’re keeping a close eye out and monitoring the situation,” Young said.
McComb Superintendent Dr. Cederick Ellis was in meetings this morning and did not immediately return a call for comment.
