The time has come for CNN to disband and be discarded from television.
It is bad enough that it foisted on us so much fake news like Russiagate and numerous other bogus stories. It has fanned the flames of racism. It passed itself off as a “news” channel but was filled with nothing but talking heads spewing leftist vitriol at every opportunity.
Indeed, when CNN did not agree with political commentary by guests they invited to speak, they fired them. When Glenn Greenwald and Matt Taibbi early on did not buy into CNN’s Trump/Russiagate collusion theory, they fired them even though previously they had often appeared as guest commentators.
CNN’s offenses are far too numerous to enumerate. But the coup de grace is that it has been revealed that it is an organization of perverts.
In little more than a year, three highly positioned CNN employees have been caught in despicable conduct.
First, there is Jeffrey Toobin, a Harvard law graduate and CNN legal analyst, who was caught masturbating on a Zoom video call. In June 2021, he was reinstated by CNN.
Then there is Chris Cuomo, brother of former New York governor Andrew Cuomo. Chris used his position at CNN to secretly help Andrew in dealing with numerous sexual harassment allegations by various women. Rightfully so, Chris lost his job at CNN and SiriusXM radio for his abuse of his position.
Finally, senior CNN producer John Griffin was just indicted for three counts of using a facility of interstate commerce to sexually abuse underage girls, the youngest of whom is 7 years old.
The rehiring of Toobin shows a serious lack of judgment. What is the first thing people will think of when they see Toobin on CNN? Toobin’s rehiring simply makes CNN a laughingstock. As for Cuomo and Griffin, CNN surely did not want to sever ties with them, but the proof was so strong that they had no choice.
Bad judgment is systemic in mass media, not just CNN. MSNBC surely has a dog in that hunt. A chief example is that, to this day, Rachel Maddow still stands by her Trump/Russia collusion narrative.
Joy Reid and many others mocked and denigrated Kyle Rittenhouse. They screamed “white supremacy” when Jussie Smollett made his claim that he was attacked by Trump supporters who he claimed told him “This is MAGA country” and put a noose around his neck — only to see him found guilty by 12 jurors of faking and lying about a hate crime.
Truly, there are enough bad things that have gone on in this country without the necessity of making up lies and fake news. But the problem is that a fair reporting of the ills in the U.S. do not fit their political narrative. Thus, they feel free to make it up as they go along. They believe that if they keep telling the same lies and gaslighting us long enough that we will eventually believe it is true.
The truth is out there. It’s just you will never get it from CNN and others. Truth be known, there is a place for “political commentary.” But it should never be passed off as the “truth,” like objective journalism.
If you search for the truth, forget mass media and go to Substack.com and read the writings of authentic journalists like Glenn Greenwald.
