What the heck — I read that the city of McComb is going to build a walking track at Edgewood Park. That is crazy.
First of all, the park has potholes and litter that should be taken care of instead. Furthermore, we have potholes and litter everywhere, and deserted, dilapidated houses all around the city. Do us a favor and fix those and all of the other problems in McComb, rather than building something we do not need.
There are walking tracks at the hospital and McComb High School, a couple in Magnolia, at the “safe room” storm shelter, First Baptist Church in McComb — and besides all those, we have sidewalks. That is what sidewalks are for: walking.
We don’t need more tracks, we need more walkers! I rarely see anyone on these walking tracks. Get real. Let’s spend money on the existing, pressing issues.
While I’m on a roll, here are a couple of other things. We’d love to know how much our supervisors have spent on the so-called “industrial park.” Could they be transparent and let us know the amount?
Remember, it’s our money, too. Or will it be like the late U.S. Sen. Everett Dirksen said about government spending: “A billion here and a billion there, and pretty soon you are talking serious money.”
Also, the recycle bin in Summit is a disgrace. Almost every time I go there, its contents are running over and piled all around the bin. However, I will say the recycle bin on Parklane Road is well maintained.
