I think that one of the main questions on everybody’s mind right now is, when are all of these mass shootings going to end?
Unfortunately, no one seems to have an answer to this. Why?
First, mass shootings are something that cannot be predicted. No one knows when one is going to happen, where it is going to happen or who will be attacked. Naturally, this puts our law enforcement officers at a great disadvantage when it comes to combatting them. This is what makes them so scary.
What is the solution? I think one, and I am no expert where this is concerned, is to get all these firearms out of the hands of the wrong people. The problem is trying to figure out just who these people happen to be, and to stop them before they have time to act. If we can figure out how to accomplish this, we might be making some progress.
Since this is not in my line of work, it will take someone to step up and, as they say, get the ball rolling. The problem is that in a lot of instances, it is already a little bit too late for that.
But if people who are qualified and trained in this area don’t do something soon to end all of this senseless violence in our country, it is going to continue to do exactly what it is doing now — to spread like wildfire.
I can see the need here, but I am one of many who don’t have the resources, or the qualifications, to do anything. There are countless law enforcement officials across our great country, and they need to get together, pool what resources they have, even if it’s setting some new gun laws, and making some new laws if necessary but seeing that they are enforced.
How many more Uvaldes is it going to take before someone comes up with a plan — right now about any plan — to not only curb but to stop all of these useless and senseless killings — murders —of so very many of our innocent citizens?
None of us signed on for this, and now is not the time to stop it. Unfortunately, yesterday was.
