How many of you know about Samaritan’s Purse? If you don’t, you need to. Until a few years ago, I had never heard of it, but I thank my Good Lord that I have now.
A few years ago, around Christmas time, I happened to be in town shopping in Hobby Lobby when I noticed a display. It was so big, there was no way you could miss it.
I strolled right on over to the display, which happened to be about Samaritan’s Purse. Sometimes, some of us think we know everything, until something we’re not expecting comes along and hits us like a brick.
When I started reading about Samaritan’s Purse, I couldn’t help wondering where in the world I had been all my life. I had heard about the famous evangelist Dr. Billy Graham but never about his son, Franklin.
Saying “Samaritan’s Purse” is just like saying, “Franklin Graham,” and vice versa. They don’t come any better, more Godly and more God-fearing than him.
I still haven’t told you about some of the most important aspects of Samaritan’s Purse. Granted, I don’t know everything about it, but what I do know is all good, believe me.
This undertaking touches the lives of little children all over the world, lots of times where it is needed the most. This involves little children who live in poor, impoverished countries who know little of the joys of life. But Franklin Graham and his crew are working to change that.
One of the first things you notice at a Samaritan’s Purse display is that it talks about shoeboxes. The objective is to fill one of these boxes with things that will help a child have a happy Christmas.
One of the things I remember most is Franklin Graham saying that this precious little shoebox might be the only thing a child receives for Christmas.
