Ephesians 5:15-16 says, “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
I consider myself a very positive person. I try to give a person the benefit of the doubt, which means to believe something good about someone rather than something bad when in doubt.
I know we’re not living in what some might call “the good old days,” and I understand things change. But God hasn’t.
We must realize that evil exists — wickedness, sin, ungodly character, immorality, dishonesty, corruption, no respect and murdering. Of course I could go on and on, but I believe you understand.
The reason I’m writing this letter is because I experienced something that shook me up. I am 65, and maybe you have experienced something worse, but this incident had me shaking my head in disbelief.
I turned off Delaware Avenue to go past Southwest hospital after 5 p.m. and came to the speed bump by the emergency room entrance. I stopped because three people were crossing the street on their way to the parking lot.
As they got closer to the parking lot, one of them, who I believe was a male, had on a hooded jacket. I couldn’t even see a face. The other two people kept walking but this person stopped, started walking in slow motion and then started pointing at me.
I was looking at this person with my mouth open. Just like an innocent bystander; it just happened to me.
I was experiencing so many emotions after the street was clear and I drove off — disbelief, fear, amazement and “this has really happened.”
This may seem like a small thing, but it showed the evilness. The gestures were frightening.
Let’s not think we’re exempt from things. As a believer, I live by the Word of God. Even though there is so much evil, Romans 12:21 says, “Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.”
