The all-time winningest high school football coach in Mississippi is stepping down, as Centreville's legendary head man Bill Hurst is calling it a career after 49 years at the helm.
Hurst capped his incredible stint as coach with his 10th state championship in 2025, as the Tigers finished with an 11-1 overall record and rallied for a 32-20 title win over Lee Academy. That means Hurst now has a championship ring for every finger.
Beginning his career in 1975, Hurst led the Centreville program until he took two years off in 1995 and 1996. He then returned in 1997 and has been in charge ever since.
Hurst's teams were known for their toughness, conditioning and never-quit attitude, which enabled the program to compile a 447-159 overall record while he was in charge. Hurst also recorded a 62-28 record in the postseason.
Offensive coordinator Brian Stutzman has had a heavy hand in leading the team recently and will take over as the fifth head coach in the program's history. Hurst will remain on staff as the Tigers' defensive coordinator.
