Lawrence Co.'s Barnes signs to further hoops career at SMCC

Lawrence County senior Amilyah Barnes signed Tuesday to further her basketball career at Southwest Mississippi C.C.

For the Lady Cougars, Amilyah averaged 11.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game. She was named to the 2026 All-District Team and 2026 All-District Best Offensive Player.

In addition to her skills on the court, Amilyah has mastered the trombone.

She excels academically as a scholar student, maintaining a 3.6 GPA while currently being enrolled in dual-enrollment courses.

Her academic excellence is reflected through her involvement in BETA Club, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), Mu Alpha Theta, Make-A-Wish and the National Technical Honor Society.
