From her time as a Lady Pioneer, Alana Johnson is more than familiar with competing for championships, and she has a chance to add to her trophy cabinet at the Women's College World Series this weekend.
The Texas Tech infielder helped drive in the winning run when the Lady Red Raiders took down Ole Miss to begin their stay in Oklahoma City yesterday.
Johnson and Texas Tech will now face UCLA in the winner's bracket of the double-elimination tournament at 6 p.m. Saturday. The end goal is for the Lady Red Raiders to be playing in the best-of-three World Series final, which would begin next Wednesday.
Following two highly successful seasons at her cousin's alma mater Washington, Johnson opted to transfer to Texas Tech this past offseason.
She's appeared in 59 games this season and bats .320 with 47 hits and 45 RBIs on the year. Johnson is also tied for second on the team with nine home runs.
While at Parklane, Johnson was a 3x MAIS State Champion, 2x MAIS Player of the Year and team captain to go along with a laundry list of other athletic and academic accolades she earned.
