College football’s three-day Early Signing period began Wednesday, with top prospects across the nation putting pen to paper as they made commitments official and began to look towards the future.
Such was certainly the case in Pike County, as McComb’s Broderick “Bam” Peters made his longtime commitment to Southern Miss official.

Peters transferred from Hammond prior to the 2025 campaign and enjoyed a wildly productive season on both sides of the ball.
The bruising tight end hauled in 27 passes for 572 yards and 10 touchdowns while also being a short-yardage specialist on the ground, which led to him racking up 104 rushing yards and four more scores.
And while Peters is expected to play tight end in college, he was also one of the stars of the Tigers’ defensive line. The 3-star prospect tallied 74 total tackles and paced the team with a mind-boggling 24 tackles for loss and 13 sacks.
Peters had been committed to the Golden Eagles’ program since before he even arrived in McComb, making Wednesday’s signing a long time coming for the 6-foot-4 prospect.
*While he will enroll early at USM, Peters will still return for McComb's formal signing ceremony in February.*
