Dr. Ralph Lucius Brock, 99, died on July 21, 2024, in Waco, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, date pending, with arrangements by Hartman-Jones Funeral Home.
Dr. Brock was born Jan. 23, 1925 in Mount Hermon, Louisiana. The Brock family later moved to McComb, where he attended McComb public schools and graduated with the class of 1942.
He received a B.A. degree from The University of Mississippi in 1944 and a Medical Certificate from the two-year Medical School of The University of Mississippi in 1945. He received his M.D. degree from Tulane University in 1948 and returned to McComb to join his father and brother in the General Practice of Medicine and Surgery.
He served in the Army of the United States as Medical Officer from 1951-53 and was discharged with the rank of Captain and Specialty Class of Physical Medicine Officer. He resumed his practice in McComb and continued until his retirement in 1995.
Dr. Brock was President of the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians in 1977, and President of the Mississippi State Medical Association in 1985.
He received the John B. Howell Memorial Award for “Family Doctor of the Year” from the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians in 1983. He also served on the Board of Directors of Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi and the Mississippi Foundation for Medical Care.
He was an active member of J.J. White Memorial Presbyterian Church in McComb for over 60 years and served as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Elder and delegate to both the Presbytery and Synod levels of the Church.
He served as president of the McComb Rotary Club, president of the Pike County Parents League and president of the Pike County Arts Council. He was selected as King of the McComb Junior Auxiliary’s Azalea Ball in 1988.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 62 years, Billie (Wilma) Andrews Brock; his parents, Lucius William Brock, M.D. and Dannie Lee Tate Brock; his two brothers, James M. Brock Sr., M.D., and Jep S. Brock, D.D.S. He was also preceded in death by two infant daughters.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Leah Brock McIntyre of Waco; daughter, Nancy Louise Brock and partner Kellie Carl of Ocean Springs; grandson, Andrew Brock McIntyre, his wife Liz and daughter Vivianne; grandson, Nolan Fife McIntyre; step-granddaughter, Hannah Quetier, her husband Guillaume and children Marlon, Neve and Linden; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
