1 dead, 4 wounded in Walthall County shooting

One person was killed and four others were wounded around midnight Sunday when a birthday party in a field in Sandy Hook erupted in gunfire.

Walthall County Coroner Chris Blackwell said the shooting occurred in a field on Sunlight Church Road in southeastern Walthall County.

16-year-old reported killed in officer-involved shooting in South McComb

Police shot and killed a teenager who they say drew a weapon on officers in South McComb late Thursday afternoon. Authorities are continuing the search for others who were with the deceased that fled the scene.

Home invader sentenced to 20 years

A McComb man was sentenced to 20 years in prison Wednesday for breaking into a woman’s home and trying to assault her while her children were present.
Tommy Redmond, 47, was convicted of burglary following a two-day trial in Pike County Circuit Court.
