McComb police took one person into custody in connection with a shooting on Tuesday afternoon, Police Chief Garland Ward confirmed.
He had no immediate details on the shooting, which reportedly wounded two people, or the name of the person arrested.
Police made the arrest on Interstate 55, Ward said.
One of the two people injured in the shooting went to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Police planned to release more information later, Ward said.
In other cases, police are investigating multiple burglaries reported over the week, including $500 cash taken from a house and the belongings of a former resident of The Claiborne in McComb who recently died.
An Avenue F resident told police Monday that someone entered a residence by damaging a side door and took $500 from a hiding spot in a closet.
Carter said the theft at The Claiborne occurred sometime after the woman died between Sept. 2 and 4. Carter noted her son reported multiple items missing from her room, including a Keurig coffee maker, a brass vase, a water bottle and other items.
Carter also reported an auto burglary at the 600 block of Virginia Avenue at 3 p.m. Saturday. The victim reported her car was unlocked and an iPhone and $14 were taken.
Officials have no reported suspects for the burglaries.
There were no other felonies reported over the weekend in McComb, Carter said.
