A Morton man and a teenage girl who accompanied him are behind bars on capital murder charges in Rankin County after being arrested in Franklin County on Sunday for allegedly stabbing a man to death.
Jeffrey Allen Freeman, 22, of Morton and the 17-year-old girl who also is reportedly from Morton are accused of stabbing 22-year-old Keair Stowers of Smith County to death and leaving his body in a ditch.
Authorities issued a bulletin for Stowers' truck, and Franklin County Sheriff Tom Tindle told the Franklin Advocate that deputies and state troopers found it on Highway 98 shortly after 1 p.m.
Freeman and the girl, whose wasn’t released, were held in the Franklin county jail until Rankin County authorities picked them up.
In another case, Tindle said Blaine Chambers, 34, of Amite County, has been charged with armed robbery in connection with the holdup last Friday of the Smithdale Dollar General on Highway 98. Tindle said Chambers was apprehended several hours after the incident.
