A man who had been on the run since being named a suspect in a fatal shooting nearly a year ago is behind bars following his arrest in McComb on Sunday night, police said.
Frecardo Raushaud Brown, 28, of whose last known address was Old Industrial Road, McComb, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Jarvis Miller, 28, McComb Chief Detective Sgt. Victoria Carter said.
Miller was shot five times in his abdomen and right arm around 10:30 p.m. March 26, 2001, at Lucky’s convenience store on the corner of Summit and St. Augustine streets.
Carter said Miller and Brown had gotten into an argument earlier. Police immediately identified Brown as a person of interest.
Carter said he went to Texas in the past year and has an outstanding arrest warrant there for an unspecified charge.
She said police learned he was back in town and located Brown.
“He was at a house on Johnson Street here in McComb,” Carter said. Police apprehended Brown around 10 p.m., she said.
Brown was being held in the Pike County jail without bond pending an initial court appearance, which Carter said should take place Tuesday or Wednesday.
