One brother is dead and the other is in jail following a shooting Saturday night in the Homestead community.
Claude Rimes, 63, of 1012 Harrison Drive, died at his house around 9, authorities said.
His brother, Bennie Rimes, has been charged with second-degree murder and remained in the Pike County Jail on Monday morning with no bond set, Pike County Chief Deputy Brad Bellipanni said.
The shooting erupted as part of an apparent dispute between the brothers, who live across the street from each other, Bellipanni said.
“There were some ongoing issues between the two,” he said. “We’re going to see what we can get to the bottom of with that.”
Both of the men were armed with rifles, although investigators haven’t determined if both of them fired their weapons during the fracas.
“It’s still under investigation,” Bellipanni said.
Coroner Wally Jones pronounced Claude Rimes dead at the scene.
