City Administrator David Myers expects McComb to be caught up with all of its audits by the end of 2023.
Myers made that prediction after Tuesday’s meeting, when the board unanimously approved paying Carolyn DuPre, a CPA from Jackson, a $6,150 invoice for her work during the month of August.
The latest audit completed for the city is from the 2017-18 fiscal year.
Bruno & Tervalon LLP of New Orleans is working on financial statements for the 2018-19 fiscal year and DuPre is working on financials for 2019-20.
Bruno & Tervalon will work on the 2018-19 audit following the completion of the financial statements. Myers said he expects the 2018-19 audit to be completed by early November.
“We are making progress in both of those areas,” Myers said, referring to the 2019 and 2020 audits. “Bruno & Tervalon has said to us that they feel confident their audit will be done sometime early November.”
The 2019-20 audit may be completed before the end of the 2022 calendar year.
“We’re on track to have one done,” Myers said. “I told the board we’re optimistic about having two done before the end of the year.
“We hope we’ll get there, but we’ll have at least definitely one done.”
However, Myers said the 2019-20 audit cannot begin until the 2018-19 one is completed.
Myers said that will lead to the completion of audits for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 fiscal year by the end of the 2023 calendar year. That would have McComb caught up with its audits.
“We’re looking at getting one done at a time because, at this point, until that one gets done, we can’t do the other one,” Myers said. “And then we can’t do the other one so we’re going to be, obviously, hopeful, that we can them all done by the end of 2023.”
